Four Sheffield Sunday roasts, and which one to book first

A sirloin with braised shin on Psalter Lane is the pick of these four Sheffield roasts, which run from £15 a head to £45 for three courses.

Roast sirloin of beef with a portion of braised shin alongside is the reason to book Sunday lunch at The Psalter, and the kitchen that cooks it holds a place in the Michelin Guide the rest of the week. It is the dearest of these four roasts and the one to book first. The cheapest starts at £15, and its October sitting has already sold out.

How we chose: the current Sunday menus on each venue’s own site, with Michelin’s 2026 listing for the Psalter.

The Psalter (Sunday lunch)

One course is £24, two £34 and three £45, and a half bottle of house wine adds £10. Alongside the sirloin there’s roast corn-fed chicken with sage and onion stuffing, a nut and Puy lentil roast and beer-battered haddock. Sunday lunch runs from noon to 2.30pm; the Tom Lawson tasting menu is Thursday to Saturday only. Psalter Lane, Sharrow · roast from £24 · Sun 12–2.30 · book

Turnip & Thyme

For £23 you pick beef, lamb, chicken or pork, with roast potatoes, a Yorkshire pudding, seasonal vegetables and homemade gravy, and the vegetarian plate swaps in a cauliflower steak. This family-run Ecclesall Road bistro has been open since 2019 and serves the roast from noon until 6pm. Ecclesall Road · Sunday roast £23 · Sun 12–6 · book

The Wisewood Inn

Loxley Brewery’s own pub piles a large roast (£17.50) with roast and mashed potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, stuffing, carrots, broccoli, cabbage and a “Wisey” cheese sauce. The meat is beef, gammon or turkey, and the vegetarian roast is a butternut squash, almond and lentil Wellington. A small plate is £15 and a child’s is £9, which makes it the family pick. Drink Loxley’s own beer with it. Loxley Road, Loxley · large roast £17.50 · Sun from 12 · book

The Three Tuns

Welcome to Sheffield calls this wedge-shaped pub between Paradise Square and Broad Lane the city’s answer to the Flatiron Building. Its roasts start at £15 a head and run on selected Sundays, the next on 22 November, so book early. The rest of the week, the reason to go is the vinyl: on Wednesdays from 5pm you can bring your own records to play. Silver Street Head, city centre · roasts from £15 · selected Sundays · book
