No stars, seven tables: Liverpool’s Michelin restaurants, priced and picked
Liverpool has no Michelin star, but seven restaurants made the 2026 Guide, and this piece says what each costs and which to book.

A baked potato under a Guinness rarebit costs £15 on Belzan’s dinner menu, and it is the dish the inspectors picked out when they put the Smithdown Road bistro in the 2026 Guide. That is the shape of Liverpool’s top end: no star (Merseyside’s only one went when Fraiche in Oxton closed in 2023), but seven restaurants on the list, and most of them cheaper than you’d guess.
How we chose: every Liverpool restaurant in the Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland 2026, priced from each restaurant’s own menus.
“8” by Andrew Sheridan
Book this one for a birthday. Andrew Sheridan moved the restaurant from Birmingham and opened on Cook Street in 2023, and the room works in two acts: snacks in a lounge, then one of two eight-seat counters where the chefs cook and explain each course in front of you. The tasting menu is £120, with an £85 drinks pairing, and it holds three AA Rosettes, the most of any Liverpool kitchen. The cheaper way in is the £50 seasonal lunch. Sheridan’s group, Open Restaurant Group, is due to open a second Liverpool restaurant, Seel & Slater, on Seel Street on 9 October.

The Art School
Order the twice-baked cheese soufflé. Paul Askew has run this white-linen room under the glass lantern roof of a Victorian school since 2014, and the soufflé is the dish critics keep returning to: Gordo scored the restaurant 18.25 out of 20 for Confidentials in August, on a lunch that also took in Loch Etive trout and rump of lamb. The prix fixe starts at £45, the tasting menu is £135, and lunch is the better-value sitting.

Vetch
Dan McGeorge, a Great British Menu champion, cooks British food with an East Asian accent on Hope Street, and SquareMeal ranked the result 36th in its UK Top 100 for 2026. Start with the shokupan milk bread and the Buffalo Wing with ranch and caviar (£10), then the whole plaice with clam beurre blanc (£28). The salt-aged duck is £42. The inspectors’ own note is that lunch and the early evening sitting are the value.

NORD
The easiest way into the seven is NORD’s prix fixe: two courses for £38 or three for £45, Tuesday to Friday at lunch and early evening and on Saturday lunchtime. Daniel Heffy cooks what he calls Travelled British with a Scandinavian lean in the former Littlewoods headquarters; tandoori beetroot and a cod Kiev are the dishes the inspectors name. Add the focaccia with whipped brown butter (£6.50). On Sundays the roast runs at the same prices, with a £15 children’s roast.

Belzan
Opened in 2018 off the back of a £20,000 Kickstarter, Belzan is the one the national lists keep finding: the Good Food Guide’s Best Local Restaurant for the North West in 2025, then 98th in SquareMeal’s Top 100 for 2026. Have the Guinness rarebit potato (£15), then the Aurox pork chop (£29). It is dinner only, Wednesday to Saturday, with lunch on Sunday.

Manifest
A Baltic Triangle warehouse with a wine bar’s habits, Manifest was opened in 2022 by Paul Durand and Charlotte Jones, and its floor team won Front of House Team of the Year at The Staff Canteen Awards in 2025. The menu dated 1 October runs from “still warm” salt and vinegar crisps (£4) to roast chicken with rainbow chard (£36) and Creedy Carver duck with plum and lovage (£38). The chef’s choice menu needs a £25 deposit a head when you book.

Pilgrim
Sit at the chef’s counter, which is the inspectors’ advice too. Pilgrim cooks Iberian small plates over a live-fire hearth, held a Bib Gourmand in its Duke Street Market days, and reopened on Allerton Road on 3 December 2025 with 24 seats, a wine bar and a terrace. Head chef Jack Williams had it back on the list six weeks later. The dish named in its citation is charred lamb rump with guindilla labneh and spring peas. The menu changes often and isn’t posted online.
Allerton Road, Mossley Hill · small plates, prices on the night · book
Book “8” for a birthday and The Art School’s lunch for a first visit. Under £40 a head means NORD’s two-course prix fixe, or Belzan if you can get south to Smithdown Road. Askew’s second restaurant, Barnacle on Hardman Street, is not on the list yet; Gordo, reviewing it in August, predicted it would be.
Checked October 2026.
