Seven Liverpool lunches for £21 or less

Weekday lunch deals on Bold Street and in the business district undercut the same kitchens’ evening prices, and this list prices seven of them.

Okra fries and a tarka dhal with rice cost £11.25 together at Bundobust on a weekday lunchtime. Liverpool’s lunch deals are where its better kitchens are cheapest, and most run Monday to Friday only. The very cheapest bowl in town, £5 of scouse at the Royal Court Theatre, is in our scouse guide.

How we chose: lunch deals on each restaurant’s own current menu, at places a critic, an award or a national or readers’ list has named.

Bundobust

On Bold Street, Bundobust serves meat-free Indian street food with beer from its own brewery in a canteen room. The Lunch Express gives you two dishes for £11.25, one from the snacks (take the okra fries, okra in chickpea batter with black salt and mango powder, which the menu calls its best-seller) and one from the curries, such as tarka dhal and rice or chole saag.

Ikkayees

Seven tables down an alley by St Luke’s, the bombed-out church, is where Fulaij Nelliyot brought the Kerala cooking he began selling on the streets of Calicut in 2014. It won a Northern England Curry Awards title in 2025 and opened a bigger sister, The Grand by Ikkayees, on Victoria Street that October. The spring menu has Puliyinji chicken at £11.99 and chicken kondattam at £12.99; add a veg samosa (£5.85) and you’re under £20.

Buyers Club

Pasta is rolled each morning in the old Flying Picket on Hardman Street, where Buyers Club has been since 2015. At lunch any main comes with a soft drink for £15, Monday to Friday, which makes the shin of beef ragu pappardelle (£18.95 in the evening) the best saving on the list. There’s a garden for warmer days.

Akasya

Turkish meze is the reason to come, and Akasya keeps a long cold list: hummus is £4.95 and patlican tarator £5.95 on the current menu, and the cold meze mix is £18.95 to share. In August its weekday deal was two courses for £15.95. It came second on Tripadvisor’s Liverpool ranking in February, behind a brunch café.

Hawksmoor Liverpool

For £18 you get one course of Hawksmoor’s set lunch in the Grade II listed India Buildings, a grand room for the money; two courses are £23 and three £28. In March it was named Restaurant of the Year at the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards. On Mondays, bring your own wine for £5 corkage, any bottle size.

Bistro Franc

At the Liverpool ONE end of Hanover Street, Bistro Franc runs a set lunch of two courses for £19.50 or three for £23.50, and it runs later than most: until 5pm Monday to Thursday and 4pm on Friday and Saturday. The kitchen’s calling card is chargrilled steak, dry-aged for 30 days.

Maray

The original Maray opened on Bold Street in 2014 and Time Out named it Liverpool’s best restaurant last year. The weekday lunch is one mezze and two plates for £20.95, which covers the falafel, made from scratch each day, and the disco cauliflower that costs £8.95 on its own.
